Valentino The Last Emperor is a documentary that takes us into the world of couture and high fashion of the Valentino empire. What I found interesting in the film was the tug of war between creativity and management. Many times in the film Valentino hints to how fashion has become more of a well oiled money making machine. He comments about how today’s industry is run by money where belts, handbags, and fragrances have become necessities to bring in the $$$. Does it seem like more and more designers today are becoming business managers instead of creative spearheads?
